Georgia Population

Georgia is one of the fastest growing states in the country. More than half of Georgia’s population lives in the capital city of Atlanta and its surrounding metropolitan area. The Atlanta area alone is responsible for most of Georgia’s growth in real estate, services and communications industries. There is also significant growth in other metropolitan areas which is positive for Georgia real estate. These cities include Albany, Athens, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, Marietta, Roswell, Savannah and Warner Robins. Nineteen Georgia counties were named among the 100 fastest growing counties in the United States.

Georgia Economy

Georgia has a blend of agricultural, industrial, technology and tourism products which all contribute to its healthy economy. Agricultural products include pecans, peaches, peanuts, poultry, cattle, rye, dairy products and vegetables. Industrial products include transportation equipment, paper products, chemical products, textiles and electric equipment. Atlanta is a leading center for tourism, government, communications and transportation. Some of the major corporations there include The Coca-Cola Company, Georgia Pacific, UPS, Delta Air Lines, Chick-fil-A. Georgia is also home to many military bases including Hunter Army Airfield, Fort Benning, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Robins Air Force Base and Moody Air Force Base.

Georgia Tourism and Recreation

Much of Georgia’s tourism is based on historical sites and events dating back to pre-Colonial days up to the days of the Civil War. Antebellum sites and Civil War battlefields and monuments dot the landscape of this expansive state. The metropolitan areas are alive with cultural events including symphonies, operas, theaters, museums, botanical gardens and nightlife entertainment. Georgia is proud of its sports and boasts many major league teams including the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Falcons, the Atlanta Hawks and the Atlanta Thrashers. Georgia is crisscrossed by a network of rivers, mountains and state parks sure to please even the most avid outdoors enthusiast.
