Most of Kentucky remains a rural state and relies on agricultural products such as soybeans, cattle, corn, tobacco, horses, goats and hogs. Lexington is especially reputed for raising thoroughbred horses. The network of coal mines across the state make it an important one in the mining of this valuable resource.
