Kentucky Population

"The Bluegrass State" of Kentucky has experienced a 4.1 per cent increase in population over the last few years which is positive for those interested in buying Kentucky real estate especially in the metropolitan areas of Frankfort, the capital city, Louisville and Lexington-Fayette. The Greater Louisville Metro Area contains nearly one fourth of the state’s total population. Other growing cities include Owensboro, Bowling Green, Covington, Hopkinsville, Henderson, Richmond and Jeffersontown. Rural areas of Kentucky continue to experience a noticeable reduction in population as residents migrate to the larger metropolitan areas.

Kentucky Economy

Kentucky ranks number four in the United States in automobile and truck production through manufacturing of Chevrolet, Ford and Toyota products. Most of Kentucky remains a rural state and relies on agricultural products such as soybeans, cattle, corn, tobacco, horses, goats and hogs. Lexington is especially reputed for raising thoroughbred horses. The network of coal mines across the state make it an important one in the mining of this valuable resource.

Kentucky Tourism and Recreation

Kentucky is known for thoroughbred horse racing, bourbon, mint juleps, the Kentucky Derby, bluegrass music and tobacco. Anyone wanting to explore this charming state will surely encounter some or all of these attributes. Some of the most popular tourist sites include the city of Louisville, Lake Cumberland, Land between the Lakes National Recreation Area, Mammoth Cave National Park, Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, the Red River Gorge at the Natural Bridge State Park, Trail of Tears National Historic Trail, Abraham Lincoln Birthplace, the Appalachian Mountains, the National Corvette Museum, the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival and the Jefferson Memorial Forest.
