About North Carolina Real Estate

Buying North Carolina Real Estate

If considering a move to North Carolina, you should take some time to review the following information on demographics, crime statistics, population, schools, and other important facts about North Carolina real estate.

North Carolina Population

North Carolina is a rapidly growing state with a 10 per cent increase in population over the last few years. This is largely due to the growth of high technology related businesses especially in The Triangle area of Raleigh-Durham-Cary. North Carolina has plenty of rural areas for those interested in buying North Carolina real estate for a slower way of life. For those interested in metropolitan areas, the largest cities in North Carolina include Charlotte, Raleigh, the state capital, Greensboro, Durham, Winston-Salem, Fayetteville, Cary, High Point, Wilmington and Asheville.

North Carolina Economy

Once a primarily agricultural state, North Carolina’s economy has expanded to include important financial services and manufacturing sectors. Fortune 500 companies headquartered in North Carolina include Duke Energy, Nucor, Wachovia, VF, Bank of America, Lowe’s and Martin Marietta Materials. Agricultural products include tobacco, eggs, dairy products, sweet potatoes, soybeans and nursery stock. The tourism and film industries also account for a significant portion of North Carolina’s economy.

North Carolina Tourism and Recreation

North Carolina is an outdoor enthusiast’s delight with camping, hiking, swimming, boating and fishing at sites such as The Appalachian National Scenic Trail, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Wright Brothers National Memorial, the Uwharrie National Forest, Cape Hatteras National Seashore, The Trail of Tears National Historic Trail and the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site. Professional sports are well represented in North Carolina with the Charlotte Hornets, the Carolina Hurricanes, the Carolina Panthers and the Charlotte Bobcats. North Carolina is also a big area for racing enthusiasts who flock to the Lowe’s Motor Speedway and the NASCAR Hall of Fame each year.

North Carolina’s state slogan, "A Better Place To Be" couldn’t be truer for those interested in buying North Carolina real estate in one of the bustling cities or somewhere in the more remote and laid back areas of this gracious state.
