About North Dakota Real Estate

Buying North Dakota Real Estate

If considering a move to North Dakota, you should take some time to review the following information on demographics, crime statistics, population, schools, and other important facts about North Dakota real estate.

North Dakota Population

As one of the Plains States experiencing out of state migration by young people, North Dakota has dropped one per cent in population over the last few years. There has been an obvious shift from rural areas to bigger cities. This is good news though for those interested in buying remote or rural North Dakota real estate. For those interested in the metropolitan areas, the largest cities in North Dakota include Fargo, Bismarck, the state capital, Grand Forks and Minot.

North Dakota Economy

North Dakota’s economy is primarily agricultural with products such as wheat, corn, barley, sunflowers, cattle, sugar beets, honey, grapes, flax and soybeans. Industrial products include mining, food processing, petroleum extraction and electric power. North Dakota has the distinction of having the only state-owned bank in the country, the Bank of North Dakota. Tourism is also a significant portion of North Dakota’s economy.

North Dakota Tourism and Recreation

Because of the vast plains areas in the state, North Dakota is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream with plenty of horseback riding, camping, fishing and hiking. Casinos and gambling are also emerging as popular forms of entertainment at venues such as Dakota Magic Casino, Sky Dancer Casino and 4 Bears Casino. Other historical sites and entertainment events include the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, the Enchanted Highway, the Dakota Dinosaur Museum, North Dakota Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, the Roger Maris Museum, the Fargo Air Museum, the Lawrence Welk Homestead and the Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center.
