About Nebraska State

Buying Nebraska Real Estate

if considering a move to Nebraska, review the information before buying Nebraska real estate.

Nebraska Population

The state of Nebraska has experienced a 3.3 per cent increase in population over the last few years. Those interested in buying Nebraska real estate have the option to live in the largely populated areas of Omaha or Lincoln or in the vast expanse of rural areas which encompasses the remainder of the state. Nearly 90 per cent of the cities in Nebraska have fewer than 3,000 people due to the migration of residents to more metropolitan areas. The largest cities in Nebraska include Omaha, Lincoln, Bellevue, Grand Island, Kearney, Fremont, Hastings, North Platte, Norfolk and Columbus.

Nebraska Economy

Nebraska’s economy is primarily from an agricultural base with exported products including corn, hogs, beef, soybeans, wheat and sorghum. Industrial products include food processing, electric equipment, machinery and printing and publishing. Nebraska does have a high tech sector as well as telecommunications and insurance companies. Some of the major corporations include Berkshire Hathaway, Con Agra, TD Ameritrade, Union Pacific, West Corporation, InfoUSA and Woodmen of the World.

Nebraska Tourism and Recreation

Because Nebraska is considered a Plains state, outdoor activities and sports are the primary sources of recreation including fishing, hunting, camping and hiking. Nebraska has several points of interest tended by the National Parks Service including the Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail, The Mormon Pioneer National Historic Trail, the Oregon National Historic Trail, the Pony Express National Historic Trail, the Chimney Rock National Historic Site, the Homestead National Monument of America, the Agate Fossil Beds National Monument and the Scotts Bluff National Monument.

Sometimes considered the point where the West begins, Nebraska offers wide open spaces, pathways from the past and room to expand for anyone considering buying Nebraska real estate.
