Nevada Population

The capital city of Nevada is Carson City. However, its biggest city is Las Vegas, in Clark County. Other large Nevada cities within Clark County include Henderson, Paradise, Sunrise Manor, North Las Vegas and Spring Valley. Washoe County, in the northwest part of Nevada, is home to Reno and Sparks.

The estimated 2006 population of Nevada is 2,495,529, reflecting a jump of approximately 24.89% since the 2000 census. This makes Nevada the fastest growing states in the US. This is reflected in the Nevada real estate statistics as well. In 2005, there were 1,019,427 housing units, an increase of 23.20% from 2000.

Top industries in Nevada’s economy include legalized gambling, tourism, and, outside of Las Vegas, Reno and Lake Tahoe, mining and cattle ranching are the top economic drivers. Gold mining in Nevada accounted for 8.7% of the world’s gold production in 2004.
