Important Federal government agencies such as the CIA and the Department of Defense are also located in Virginia. Virginia Tourism and Recreation

As the site of so much of American Colonial and Civil War history, Virginia is rich in historic sites and events including Colonial Williamsburg, Monticello, the Albemarle Charlottesville Historical area, the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail, the Jamestown Settlement, Monticello, Montpelier, Mount Vernon, the Appomattox Court House and National Historical Park, Arlington National Cemetery and the Cannonball Trail.
