Virginia Population

Virginia has experienced a healthy eight per cent population increase over the last few years. Virginia Economy

Virginia’s economy is varied including agricultural, government and tourism as the main segments. Virginia has also been voted "The Best Climate for Business" and as the top state in the country in which to do business both by Forbes magazine and CNBC respectively. Fortune 500 companies headquartered in Virginia include Freddie Mac, Sprint Nextel, General Dynamics, Dominion Resources, Capital One Financial, Circuit City Stores, Smithfield Foods, Genworth Financial and MeadWestvaco. Important Federal government agencies such as the CIA and the Department of Defense are also located in Virginia. Agricultural products for Virginia include tobacco, cattle, hogs, poultry, soybeans and wine.

Virginia Tourism and Recreation

As the site of so much of American Colonial and Civil War history, Virginia is rich in historic sites and events including Colonial Williamsburg, Monticello, the Albemarle Charlottesville Historical area, the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail, the Jamestown Settlement, Monticello, Montpelier, Mount Vernon, the Appomattox Court House and National Historical Park, Arlington National Cemetery and the Cannonball Trail. Virginia is also perfect for outdoor enthusiasts who will enjoy the camping, boating, swimming, horseback riding, hiking and boating in the state’s mountain and coastal areas.
