Aurora is the third largest city in Colorado with 143 square miles. According to Forbes, Aurora ranked ninth in their 2011 survey of America’s Safest Cities.
Home styles and home prices vary greatly here, but let’s take a look at some Aurora luxury homes currently on the market. Keep in mind that the average home price in Aurora is between $250,000 and $300,000, so for the purposes of this article, we will consider anything over $500,000 a luxury home in Aurora.
Luxury Homes for Sale in Aurora, Colorado
Tallyn’s Reach is a great community in southeast Aurora near E-470 and Smoky Hill Road. One example of a home for sale here is the house located at 24440 E. Glasgow Drive. It is currently listed on the market for $899,950. This great two-story home was built in the year 2000 on a huge 14,766 square foot lot with breathtaking mountain views. It offers five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and a full walk-out basement.
Saddle Rock is another southeast Aurora community with a wonderful public golf course in the center, Saddle Rock Golf Course. There is a home located at 22003 E. Hinsdale Ave. that is currently on the market for $625,000.
This two-story home was built in 2004 by DR Horton and sits on a 20,603 square foot lot. Besides having five bedrooms and four bathrooms, this home also has a walkout basement, a swimming pool and a four-car garage. Oh, and did I mention it has golf course and mountain views?
Tuscany at Piney Creek is a very popular Aurora neighborhood. The home located at 6175 S. Fundy Court is currently on the market at $660,000. This two-story home offers 4,068 square feet with six bedrooms and six bathrooms. It was built in 2003 by Richmond Homes. Piney Creek has recreation centers throughout the community with swimming pools and tennis courts for all to enjoy.
Beacon Point is a great community located just south of the Aurora Reservoir and just east of Southlands Shopping Center. There is a home at 26671 E. Arbor Drive that is currently on the market for $899,900. This great home has amazing lake views and sits on a 30,405 square foot lot.
This is the popular Bandiera model by Lennar Homes built in 2007. This is indeed a rare opportunity in Beacon Point. The lot size is very rare for that neighborhood, and a full lake view is unheard of.
Blackstone Country Club is a newer community in southeast Aurora with a beautiful 18-hole golf course and country club. The popular golf course is an par 72 with 7,313 yards of play. One home for sale here, at 27446 E. Jamison Circle, is offered at $800,000. This custom built, ranch style home sits on a 12,600 square foot lot and backs the tenth fairway.
These are just a few of the luxury homes on the market in Aurora, Colo. There are also some older luxury homes located in the Bel-Aire Estates neighborhood, which is near Meadow Hills Golf course.
Golf courses are a huge draw in Colorado. Homes near or backing a golf course bring a huge premium. In most cases, you not only have a view of the golf course, but you also have incredible mountain views from these homes.
Living in Colorado
Colorado is all about the Rocky Mountains. From anywhere in the Denver metro area, if you look west, you can catch a glimpse of the beautiful range. The mountains frame our town to the west and they are pretty hard to miss. In summer the mountains take on a light purple glow, and in the winter they are covered with crisp white snow.
Coloradans take off for the mountains in the winter to hit the ski slopes, and in the summer they put on their hiking gear and take on the task of climbing as many of the 14’rs (14,000 plus feet) as they can. And of course, there is always white water rafting for those who want to jump in and get wet in the fast running rivers and streams.
The wildlife in Colorado is hard to beat as well. Many folks head up to Rocky Mountain National Park to see their share of elk, moose, deer, coyotes and even an occasional glimpse of a bear or two.
As you’re heading west on I70, be sure to look to the fields off the Genesee exit (exit 254) for a look at the dozens of buffalo roaming. This herd is maintained by the city and county of Denver.
It all started when they brought seven wild buffalo to Denver from Yellowstone National Park. They seem to have acclimated nicely – there are many more than seven now, and in the spring you can see the calves bouncing around trying to keep up with their moms.
Summer is tourist time in Colorado. You can’t drive far on Interstate 70 without seeing a handful of out-of-state plates. Colorado is a great place to take a summer (or winter) vacation. Just remember that the wildlife really is wild. Don’t try to go up to any wild animal, and definitely don’t go up to any offspring while the mother is nearby.
