The state of Mississippi has witnessed a 2.7 per cent population increase over the last few years. Mississippi has a more agricultural than industrial economy and some of its products include cotton, catfish, soybeans, rice, dairy products, poultry and cattle. Manufactured products include furniture and other wood products, food processing, apparel, transportation equipment and electrical machinery.
Mississippi Tourism and Recreation
Mississippi’s music heritage is evident everywhere you travel in the state. The Mississippi Blues Trail, the Delta Blues Museum and Elvis Presley’s home in Tupelo are just a few notable sites. The mighty Mississippi River which flows along the western edge of the state is a source of commerce as well as recreational activities. Natural scenery abounds and some is preserved by the National Park Service including Brices Cross Roads National Battlefield Site, Gulf Islands National Seashore, Natchez National Historical Park, Tupelo National Battlefield, Vicksburg National Cemetery and the Vicksburg National Military Park.
