Chestnut Ridge is reasonably quiet overall, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case near Interstate 287 or Interstate 87. Most locations in the neighborhood have good access to green spaces, such as Saddle River Park and Dexter Park, since they aren't well-spread out. Despite that, there are a few parks nearby for residents to visit.
The housing stock of Chestnut Ridge is composed predominantly of single detached homes and townhouses. Most of the housing growth in this area took place in the 1960s and 1970s. This neighborhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Home owners occupy about 85% of the properties in the neighborhood whereas the rest are rented.
It is a rather short walk to access primary schools from most properties for sale in Chestnut Ridge. On the other hand, high schools are not especially abundant and for this reason not always within walking distance. At the elementary level, both public and private schools can be found. With respect to eating, some home buyers in this neighborhood may be able to do their grocery shopping on foot, while others will need another means of transportation. Residents are served by around 10 restaurants and cafes as well.
Chestnut Ridge is an extraordinarily good part of Ramapo for getting around by car. Finding a place to park is quite easy, and most homes for sale are a reasonably short drive from the nearest highway, such as Interstate 87. However, the public transit service in Chestnut Ridge is not very frequent. This area is not very conducive to walking as running common errands is at times challenging.
