De Witt, NY

De Witt is a town situated in the Syracuse metropolitan area, which is part of New York, United States.

De Witt is quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamor - although that is not the case closer to the airport (Syracuse Hancock International Airport), New York State Thruway, Interstate 690 or one of the railway lines. Parks are spread out sparsely, which makes them occasionally hard to get to from most locations in the town. Despite that, there are about 10 public green spaces nearby for residents to check out, such as Clark Reservation and Old Erie Canal State Historic Park.

The average year of construction for dwellings in De Witt is 1964. In this part of the Syracuse metropolitan area, the majority of buildings are single detached homes, and the remaining dwellings are mainly small apartment buildings. Around 80% of the population of this town own their home and 20% are renters. This town also has a variety of housing sizes; houses range from lofts to four or more bedrooms.

There are only a few high schools and primary schools in De Witt and for this reason they can be a long walk away. Property owners have the option of public and private schools at both the elementary and secondary school level. In terms of food, some, but not all, house buyers in De Witt will live within walking distance of one of approximately 40 grocery stores. A limited variety of restaurants and cafes can be found as well.

De Witt is an extraordinarily good part of the Syracuse metropolitan area for getting around by car. The majority of properties for sale are a rather short car ride from the nearest highway, such as New York State Thruway, and parking is generally easy. On the other hand, commuting by transit can be very difficult in De Witt due to the service's low frequency. Nonetheless, home owners have access to about 10 bus lines, and bus stops are ordinarily relatively close by. Most houses for sale in this town are located in areas that are not very suitable for walking as many daily needs are difficult to meet on foot.
