Deer Island, Boston

The neighborhood of Deer Island is part of the city of Boston, Massachusetts.

Deer Island offers a calm ambience and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time in green spaces. This neighborhood is very quiet overall, as the streets are very tranquil. Lastly, accessing parks in the neighborhood, such as Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area, is very easy since there are a few of them close by for residents to visit.

In Deer Island, many of the dwellings are single detached homes, and duplexes are also present in the housing stock. This part of Boston experienced its most significant housing boom before the 1960s, so most of the available properties are from this era. This area offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Around 80% of the population of this neighborhood own their home whereas the remainder are renters.

There are no high schools and no primary schools in this part of the city. In terms of eating, a car is almost always needed in Deer Island to access the closest grocery store.

The best transportation option in this neighborhood is very often a car. Parking is easy. However, Deer Island is not a very pleasant part of Boston for moving around by public transit. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighborhood, and bus stops are not particularly far from most homes. Traveling on foot is not very practical for residents in Deer Island because very few common errands can be run without needing to use a vehicle.
