Getting to public green spaces, including Doc Romeo Park and Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex, is easy from a lot of locations within the neighborhood since there are a few of them nearby for residents to enjoy. The noise levels in this part of Las Vegas are also low, as the streets tend to be tranquil.

In Desert Shores, roughly 45% of buildings are single detached homes, while the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings and small apartment buildings. Most of the housing growth in this neighborhood took place in the 1990s. This part of the city also has a good variety of unit sizes - homes range from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About 60% of the units in the neighborhood are occupied by renters whereas the remainder are occupied by owners.

Getting to the nearest grocery store on foot is possible for some, but not all, house buyers in Desert Shores. However, those who like to eat in restaurants will have a fair number of options, and a limited variety of coffee shops can be found as well. The car is usually the preferred way to move around in this part of the city. Finding a place to park is generally easy. In contrast, public transit users may experience limited options in this part of Las Vegas due to the service's low frequency.
