Edgewood is an excellent area for those who aren't bothered by a little noise, as traffic can occasionally be loud during busy hours. Public green spaces aren't well-situated, which results in them being rather difficult to reach from most locations within the neighborhood. Still, residents will be able to access parks in nearby neighborhoods.
In Edgewood, many of buildings are large apartment buildings, and single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. This neighborhood has quite a good variety of housing sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Renters occupy roughly two thirds of the properties in the neighborhood whereas the remainder are occupied by owners. This part of Louisville experienced its most significant housing boom in the 1960s and 1970s, so most of the available housing is from this time period.
There are no high schools and no primary schools in this part of the city. As far as eating is concerned, it is easy to reach the nearest grocery store by walking from any location in Edgewood. A limited number of restaurants can be found in this neighborhood as well.
The preferred way to navigate Edgewood is usually a car. It is very easy to park, and the majority of homes for sale are a short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Interstate 65. On the other hand, this area is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines, and it is convenient to find a nearby bus stop from most homes. Traveling on foot is not very practical for residents in Edgewood since few common errands can be run without having to resort to a car.
