Far Southwest, Portland

The neighborhood of Far Southwest is situated within the city of Portland, Oregon.

People who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere will enjoy Far Southwest. It is easy to reach parks since there are a few of them close by for residents to check out. Most areas in this part of the city are quiet, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case closer to Pacific Highway or Baldock Freeway.

In Far Southwest, about half of buildings are single detached homes, while the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings and small apartment buildings. About one third of properties in this neighborhood were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This part of Portland is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Roughly 60% of the population of this neighborhood own their home whereas renters make up the remainder.

There are no high schools and no primary schools in Far Southwest. With respect to eating, a grocery store is generally reachable within a rather short walk from any home in this area. Residents of Far Southwest benefit from a few restaurants as well.

Driving is very often the favored approach to move around in Far Southwest. Most real estate listings are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Pacific Highway, and parking is easy. On the other hand, Far Southwest is not an especially pleasant part of Portland for traveling by public transit. Nevertheless, the neighborhood is served by a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is typically just around the corner. Walking in Far Southwest is not very common, although meeting daily needs is convenient on foot.
