The borough of Forest Hills, Pennsylvania is situated in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.

Forest Hills is a fairly good borough to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. It is easy to access green spaces from the majority of locations within the borough since there are a few of them close by for residents to relax in. This part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area is also fairly good for those who prefer quiet areas, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamor.

The large proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of Forest Hills is an important part of its character. This borough has quite a good variety of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Around 80% of the properties in the borough are occupied by home owners whereas renters occupy the remainder. Most homes in this borough were constructed prior to the 1960s, during its main housing boom.

Some, but not all, home buyers in Forest Hills will reside within walking distance of the nearest supermarket. There are also a few opportunities for those who care about close by restaurants and cafes. In terms of education, residents will welcome that no matter where their house is situated in this part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area, primary as well as high schools are nearby.

Commuting by car is very convenient in Forest Hills. The majority of houses for sale are a rather short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Penn-Lincoln Parkway, and it is very easy to access a place to park. On the other hand, this part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the borough, and bus stops are not very far from most homes. Forest Hills is not very conducive to biking because cyclists are faced with a significant amount of elevation changes, and the bicycling network is somewhat poor. This part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area is also not particularly convenient for walking since carrying out day-to-day needs is occasionally difficult on foot.
