There is a broad selection of green spaces in Fort Valley. Although Fort Valley is not home to any parks, green spaces are especially well-situated in nearby neighborhoods, making it easy to get to them. Lastly, as there are few pedestrians, this part of the city is relatively quiet; however there can be more noise for those who are around Lakewood Freeway.

In Fort Valley, many of buildings are small apartment buildings, whereas the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings and single detached homes. A majority of the housing growth in this neighborhood took place between 1960 and 1980. This part of Atlanta offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes. About 95% of the population of this neighborhood rent their home whereas the rest are owners.

This neighborhood does not have any high schools or primary schools. Concerning food, the nearest grocery store in Fort Valley is usually only a very short walk away.

Fort Valley is an extremely convenient part of Atlanta for moving around by car. Parking is easy, and the majority of properties for sale are a very short drive from the closest highway. However, residents using public transit may experience limited choices in Fort Valley by reason of the low service level. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most properties. There are relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of this area, even though many daily errands can be run without the use of a vehicle.
