Hawthorne offers an extensive selection of green spaces to enjoy. Although this area does not contain any green spaces, parks are especially well-spread out in nearby neighborhoods, which makes it easy to access them. Lastly, this part of the city can be rather noisy, as traffic can occasionally be loud during busier hours of the day.

The sizeable percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of Hawthorne is an important part of its character.
