Hazelwood, Louisville

The neighborhood of Hazelwood is situated within the city of Louisville, Kentucky.

Hazelwood offers a great variety of green spaces to enjoy. Parks, such as Watterson Lake, are especially well-spread out and there are a few of them close by for residents to relax in, which makes it easy to access them from numerous locations in the neighborhood. This part of Louisville remains relatively calm, due to the presence of very few pedestrians.

The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of Hazelwood is an important part of its character. This area has a good selection of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Renters occupy roughly 55% of the units in Hazelwood and 45% are occupied by owners. Most of the housing growth in this neighborhood took place before the 1960s.

It is very often feasible for property owners in Hazelwood to do their groceries by walking. A small number of restaurants can be found in this area as well. With respect to education, locals will appreciate that wherever their house is located in this neighborhood, primary schools are close by. On the other hand, there are no high schools in Hazelwood.

Hazelwood is an extraordinarily good part of Louisville for getting around by car. Most houses for sale are a short drive from the nearest highway, such as Henry Watterson Expressway, and parking is generally easy. However, Hazelwood is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighborhood, and bus stops are usually nearby. It is sometimes challenging for pedestrians to move around in this part of the city since running common errands is occasionally difficult by walking.
