Most areas in Hidden Valley are quiet, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case around Interstate 45 or North Freeway. Parks aren't well-spread out, which results in them being sometimes challenging to reach from the majority of locations within this neighborhood. Still, residents will be able to access public green spaces in nearby neighborhoods.

The housing stock of Hidden Valley is composed predominantly of single detached homes and townhouses. A majority of the housing growth in this part of the city happened between 1960 and 1980. This neighborhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 85% of the units in the neighborhood are occupied by home owners and 15% are rented.

The nearest grocery store in Hidden Valley is usually only a short walk away. There are also a limited number of opportunities for those who value close by restaurants and cafes. With respect to education, it is a reasonably short walk to get to primary schools from most homes for sale in this part of the city. However, there are no high schools in Hidden Valley.

Hidden Valley is an extremely good part of Houston for getting around by car. The majority of houses for sale are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Interstate 45, and it is very easy to park. However, Hidden Valley is not an especially convenient part of Houston for moving around by public transit. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines, and bus stops are generally close by. Walking in Hidden Valley is not very popular, even though many daily errands can be run without the use of a vehicle.
