Highlands offers a variety of experiences for home buyers who enjoy a vibrant atmosphere and spending time outdoors. Although this part of the city is not known for its lively atmosphere, with the nightlife venues in nearby neighborhoods, it is very easy to find a place to grab a drink because they are generally located around the corner. Main streets, including Baxter Avenue, are excellent for those who enjoy going out. However, although Highlands does not contain any parks, public green spaces are especially well-situated in nearby neighborhoods, making them easy to reach.

In Highlands, about half of the dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings and duplexes are also present in the housing stock. This part of the city offers mainly one bedroom and two bedroom homes. About 55% of the dwellings in the neighborhood are occupied by home owners whereas the rest are rented. A majority of the housing growth in this area happened pre-1960.

It is a very short walk to access both primary and secondary schools from most properties for sale in Highlands. As far as eating is concerned, it is very easy to reach the closest grocery store on foot in Highlands in this neighborhood. Likewise, there are a good number of options in close proximity for those who cherish restaurants and cafes.

It is very easy for people traveling on foot to navigate Highlands; meeting daily needs is convenient, and there are also a fair number of businesses nearby. Highlands is not an especially pleasant part of Louisville for getting around by public transit. Nevertheless, residents benefit from a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most residences. However, this neighborhood is very car friendly. The majority of properties for sale are a reasonably short drive from the nearest highway, and it is easy to park.
