Hollywood Hills is a reasonably good neighborhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. This part of the city is quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamor - although that is not the case around Hollywood Freeway. Finally, access to parks in the neighborhood, like Briar Summit Open Space Preserve and Unnamed site - Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, is very easy, since there are about 20 of them close by for residents to unwind in and most homes have a park within walking distance.

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing around half of the dwellings in Hollywood Hills, whereas the rest are mainly large apartment buildings. This neighborhood has a good selection of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Home owners occupy roughly 60% of the units in Hollywood Hills while the remainder are rented. The properties in this area are quite old, since about 55% of its buildings were built before the 1960s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s.

It is convenient to reach the nearest supermarket by walking from most properties for sale in this part of the city. Additionally, Hollywood Hills is a good place in which to eat out, and a limited variety of coffee shops can be found as well. With regards to education, high schools and primary schools are not especially abundant in this part of Los Angeles, and consequently tend to be a rather long walk away. Locals benefit from public and private elementary schools.

Hollywood Hills will draw active people because it is quite conducive to walking; many daily errands can be run without having to resort to a car. Public transit riders may experience limited choices in this part of the city due to the infrequent service. Nevertheless, the neighborhood is connected by a few bus lines, and it is easy to reach a nearby bus stop from most properties. However, this neighborhood is very car friendly. It is especially convenient to come across a place to park, and nearby highways, such as Ventura Freeway, are quite easy to access from any home in this area.
