Lakewood, Charlotte

The neighborhood of Lakewood is located in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Lakewood offers a calm ambience and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. Most areas in this part of Charlotte are quiet, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several noisier sections, especially near Interstate 85 or the railway line. Finally, many locations within the neighborhood have reasonably good access to public green spaces, including Stewart Creek Greenway, since there are a few of them nearby for residents to relax in.

The housing stock of Lakewood is composed predominantly of single detached homes and row houses. The homes in this area are quite old, because about one third of its buildings were built pre-1960, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 2000s. This part of Charlotte also has quite a good choice of housing size options - properties range from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Roughly two thirds of the population of this neighborhood rent their home while owners make up the remainder.

There are no high schools and no primary schools in Lakewood. When it comes to eating, home buyers in this part of Charlotte will welcome that a grocery store is always only a reasonably short walk away. A small number of restaurants can be found in Lakewood as well.

Lakewood is very car friendly. It is very easy to come across a place to park, and it is a very short drive to the nearest highway, such as Interstate 85, from any home in this part of Charlotte. However, there aren't many pedestrians out on the streets of Lakewood, even though most daily needs are convenient to meet by walking.
