Located within Maryland, United States, the municipality of Lochearn is situated in the Baltimore metropolitan area.

The character of Lochearn is exemplified by its slower-paced atmosphere. This municipality is quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamor - however some areas can be quite noisy, especially near Baltimore Beltway or the railway line. Lastly, there are a few public green spaces close by for residents to check out, including Villa Nova Park and Gwynn Oak Park, which makes it easy to access them.

In Lochearn, about two thirds of buildings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. Most of the housing growth in this municipality happened before the 1960s. This part of the Baltimore metropolitan area also has quite a good variety of unit sizes; it is quite easy to find houses ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Home owners occupy around 70% of the dwellings in Lochearn while the remainder are rented.

Locals will find that wherever their house is situated in this municipality, both primary and secondary schools are close by. Besides public schools, there are private elementary and high schools. Lochearn is very car friendly. It is very easy to find a place to park, and it is a rather short drive to the nearest highway, such as Interstate 795, from any location in this municipality. However, this municipality is not an especially pleasant part of the Baltimore metropolitan area for getting around by public transit. Nevertheless, there is Old Court Station and Milford Mill Station with access to the Metro SubwayLink.
