McKinley Park, Chicago

The neighborhood of McKinley Park is part of the city of Chicago, Illinois.

McKinley Park offers a wide selection of green spaces to enjoy, as well as some areas with a vibrant feel. There are a few public green spaces nearby for residents to check out, including McKinley Park, making them very easy to reach from numerous locations within this area. A large number of parts of this neighborhood are very calm and quiet, but some other sections can be noisy, especially around one of the railway lines, Adlai Stevenson Expressway or Interstate 55.

Duplexes are the predominant housing type, representing roughly one third of buildings in McKinley Park, and the remaining properties are mainly small apartment buildings and single detached homes. This part of the city offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes. About 60% of the population of this neighborhood own their home while renters make up the remainder. The properties in this area are very old, since many of its dwellings were built prior to the 1960s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed 1960.

It is very easy to get to both a general and a specialty grocery store on foot from most homes for sale in this neighborhood. Moreover, this area is a good place in which to eat out or go to a cafe. As far as education is concerned, it is a short walk to get to both primary and secondary schools from anywhere in McKinley Park. Along with public schools, there are private elementary and high schools.

This part of Chicago allows property owners to move around by a variety of methods of transportation. It is very convenient for pedestrians to get around in this neighborhood; many day-to-day errands can be run without the use of a car, and various businesses are reasonably close by. Owing to 35th/Archer Station on the Orange Line, and a few nearby bus lines, McKinley Park is quite transit friendly. This area is also very car friendly. It is convenient to come across a parking spot, and it is a short drive to the nearest highway, such as Interstate 55, from any home in McKinley Park.
