Merriwether is a neighborhood within Louisville, Kentucky.
Despite the somewhat busy feel, there are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Merriwether. Parks, like Eastern Parkway, are very well-distributed and there are a few of them nearby for residents to enjoy, making it very easy to access them from numerous locations within the neighborhood. This part of the city remains relatively quiet, thanks to the presence of few people out and about on the streets, although those who are near the railway line may experience higher levels of noise.
The population residing in Merriwether is evenly split between renters and owners. Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing roughly two thirds of buildings in this part of the city, and small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. Most of the housing growth in this area happened prior to the 1960s. This area has a good choice of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
Merriwether does not contain any high schools or primary schools. With regards to food, it is especially convenient to reach the closest grocery store by walking from most homes for sale in this area. In addition, this part of Louisville is a fairly good place in which to eat out.
Merriwether is a fairly pleasant part of Louisville for pedestrians; many common errands can be run on foot. Traveling by public transit is difficult in this neighborhood. Nevertheless, property owners benefit from a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally very close. However, getting around by car is very convenient in Merriwether. It is a very short car ride to the closest highway, such as Interstate 65, from any location in this part of the city, and it is easy to access a parking spot.
