Although the neighborhood does not contain any public green spaces, parks are especially well-situated in nearby neighborhoods, resulting in them being easy to get to from most locations in the neighborhood. This part of Louisville is also great for those who like quiet areas, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamor.

In Mockingbird Valley, many of the dwellings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings and small apartment buildings are the main alternatives in the housing stock. The properties in this neighborhood are quite old, since around 45% of its buildings were built prior to the 1960s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. This part of the city has quite a good choice of housing sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
