North Valley, San Jose

The neighborhood of North Valley is located in the city of San Jose, California.

The character of North Valley is exemplified by its relaxed environment. The noise levels in this area are low, as the streets are usually calm - however some parts can be quite noisy, especially closer to Bayshore Freeway, Nimitz Freeway or one of the railway lines. Finally, public green spaces, like Overfelt Gardens Park and Flickering Park, are very well-distributed and there are about 20 of them nearby for residents to enjoy, which makes them easy to reach.

There are equal parts owners and renters living in North Valley. Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing roughly 40% of the dwellings in this neighborhood, whereas the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and townhouses. The average year of construction for properties in this neighborhood is 1984. This neighborhood has a good choice of housing sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.

In this part of San Jose, locals will usually be able to get to primary schools on foot. However, high schools are not especially numerous and for this reason tend to require an extended walk to get to. In terms of food, it is easy to get to the closest supermarket on foot from most houses for sale in North Valley. Moreover, this neighborhood is a fairly good place in which to eat out, and there are also approximately 20 cafes in this area.

Active people will appreciate the reasonably walk-friendly character of this neighborhood; many daily errands can be run on foot. In contrast, the bike is a somewhat poor method of transportation in this part of San Jose as the area is not particularly flat, and the bicycling network is not very comprehensive. Traveling by transit can be difficult in North Valley as a result of the infrequent service. Thankfully, property owners are served by about 10 bus lines, and the closest bus stop is generally very close. On the other hand, the car is very often the preferred way to navigate North Valley. It is easy to access a parking spot, and nearby highways, such as Sinclair Freeway, are very easy to reach from any location in North Valley.
