Northgate, Fremont

The neighborhood of Northgate is part of the city of Fremont, California, which is located in the San Francisco - Oakland metropolitan area.

The character of Northgate is exemplified by its calm environment. There are a few public green spaces close by for residents to relax in, such as North Gate Community Park, and they are very well-spread out, which results in them being easy to get to from the majority of locations in this neighborhood. This part of the city is also fairly good for those who like a quiet atmosphere, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamor - although there are still several noisier sections, especially closer to Nimitz Freeway.

In Northgate, around half of the dwellings are single detached homes, and the remaining homes are mainly large apartment buildings and townhouses. This neighborhood has a good selection of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Around two thirds of the population of this neighborhood own their home while renters make up the remainder. Around half of homes in this area were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 1990s.

The closest supermarket in Northgate is typically only a reasonably short walk away. Residents are served by approximately 20 restaurants and cafes as well. As far as education is concerned, it is a reasonably short walk to access primary schools from most properties for sale in this part of the city. In contrast, Northgate does not have any high schools.

Northgate is an extraordinarily convenient part of Fremont for getting around by car. The majority of homes for sale are a short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Nimitz Freeway, and parking is generally easy. On the other hand, commuting by public transit is difficult in Northgate. Nevertheless, home owners have access to a few bus lines, and it is straightforward to find a nearby bus stop from most houses. Northgate is not particularly bike-friendly as the cycling network is not very well-developed. Nonetheless, it is a flat ride to most locations. Traveling by foot is also not very popular in Northgate, even though most daily needs are convenient to carry out without having to resort to a vehicle.
