Northside Village is a fairly good neighborhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced ambience. There are a few public green spaces close by for residents to relax in and they are very well-distributed, making them easy to get to. This part of the city is also reasonably quiet, as the streets are quite calm - although there are still several louder sections, especially near North Freeway, Interstate 45 or one of the railway lines.

A majority of the housing growth in Northside Village happened pre-1960. Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing around three quarters of the dwellings in this area, while the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings. The split between home owners and renters is about even. This part of the city has quite a good variety of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.

House owners will value that no matter where their home is located in Northside Village, both primary and secondary schools are close by. With regards to food, the closest supermarket in Northside Village is generally only a very short walk away. Additionally, a restaurant is commonly just around the corner, and a limited number of coffee shops can be found as well.

It is easy for people traveling on foot to get around in this neighborhood; many common errands can be run without the use of a car. The public transit network in Northside Village is not especially accessible. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighborhood, and most properties are very close to a bus stop. However, the car is very often the best transportation option in this part of the city. It is easy to park, and many houses for sale are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Gulf Freeway.
