Old Aurora is a reasonably good neighborhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a calm ambience. Public green spaces are especially well-located and there are a few of them close by for residents to relax in, which makes it easy to get to them. This area is also quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.

In Old Aurora, many of the dwellings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. This neighborhood has a good selection of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About 70% of the population of this neighborhood own their home and 30% are renters. Most housing in this neighborhood was built in the 1960s and 1970s, during its main housing boom.

It is a reasonably short walk to reach both primary and secondary schools from most homes for sale in Old Aurora. Locals benefit from public and private schools at both the elementary and secondary school level. As far as eating is concerned, property owners in Old Aurora will appreciate that a grocery store is always only a rather short walk away. There are also about 10 restaurants and cafes in this area.

This part of New Orleans is especially car friendly. It is a rather short car ride to the closest highway from any location in Old Aurora, and it is very easy to access a parking spot. On the other hand, the public transit service in this part of New Orleans is not very frequent. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighborhood, and bus stops are commonly nearby. It is at times difficult for people walking to get around in Old Aurora as few daily errands can be run on foot.
