River East, El Monte

River East is a neighborhood in El Monte, California, which is situated in the Los Angeles - Long Beach - Anaheim metropolitan area.

River East is a good neighborhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a calm ambience. It is easy to access green spaces since there are a few of them nearby for residents to enjoy. This neighborhood is quiet overall, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case close to one of the railway lines or San Bernardino Freeway.

Over half of the housing stock of River East consists of large apartment buildings and single detached homes, whereas the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings and townhouses. Around one third of properties in this area were built between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This neighborhood has a good choice of housing sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Renters occupy about 70% of the units in the neighborhood while the rest are occupied by owners.
