South Deering is a neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois.

The character of South Deering is exemplified by its relaxed environment. Most areas in this neighborhood are reasonably quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case closer to one of the railway lines or Interstate 90. Finally, there are a few public green spaces close by for residents to visit, including Veterans Memorial Park and Bradley Park, and they are especially well-situated, making them easy to get to.

Roughly two thirds of the population of this neighborhood own their home whereas the rest are renters. In this part of the city, most of buildings are single detached homes, whereas the remainder are mainly duplexes and townhouses. Most of the housing growth in this neighborhood took place before the 1960s. This neighborhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes.

House owners will appreciate that no matter where their property is located in this part of Chicago, both primary and secondary schools are nearby. Residents are served by public and private schools at both the elementary and high school level. The car is very often the best way to move around in South Deering. It is very convenient to park, and most houses for sale are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway. There are relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of this area, even though running common errands is easy on foot.
