Sunnyside, Wichita

The neighborhood of Sunnyside is situated in the city of Wichita, Kansas.

Sunnyside is quiet, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although there are still several louder areas, especially around Interstate 135.

Most housing in Sunnyside was built before the 1960s, during its latest housing boom. The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of this area is an important part of its character. Home owners occupy about two thirds of the units in the neighborhood while the remainder are rented. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes.

A vehicle is often needed in Sunnyside to access the nearest supermarket. With respect to education, in this part of Wichita, residents will commonly be able to access high schools by walking. However, Sunnyside does not have any primary schools.

This part of Wichita is especially car friendly. It is a very short drive to the closest highway, such as Interstate 135, from anywhere in Sunnyside, and it is very easy to find a parking spot. On the other hand, this part of the city is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, the neighborhood is served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are typically nearby. Walking in this part of the cityis not very common, even though meeting daily needs is convenient on foot.
