Toluca Lake is a neighborhood within Los Angeles, California.
There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Toluca Lake, as well as some areas with a vibrant ambience. Although the neighborhood does not contain any parks, green spaces are especially well-situated in nearby neighborhoods, which makes them easy to access. Many parts of Toluca Lake is quite quiet, although that is not the case around Ventura Freeway.
The majority of the housing stock of Toluca Lake consists of single detached homes and large apartment buildings, and the remaining homes are mainly small apartment buildings. This area has quite a good variety of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Roughly 60% of the population of this neighborhood rent their home whereas the remainder are owners. The buildings in this part of Los Angeles are quite old, because around 45% of its dwellings were constructed pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 2000s.
A general and a specialty grocery store is always only a short walk away in this area. Moreover, there is generally a restaurant or cafe in close proximity. Property owners benefit from a good number of nearby clothing stores, for example on Riverside Drive. Regarding education, primary schools are convenient to get to on foot from anywhere in this part of Los Angeles. On the other hand, Toluca Lake does not contain any high schools. Residents can choose between public and private elementary schools.
Walking is reasonably practical for residents in this neighborhood; all daily needs can be met on foot, and plenty of businesses are quite nearby. Toluca Lake is not particularly transit friendly. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighborhood, and bus stops are not very far away from most homes. However, Toluca Lake is a very convenient part of Los Angeles for moving around by car. Parking is quite easy, and most properties for sale are a very short drive from the nearest highway, such as Ventura Freeway.
