Uptown is a reasonably good neighborhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a relaxed ambience. There are a few public green spaces nearby for residents to discover and they are especially well-located, making it easy to get to them. This neighborhood is reasonably quiet overall, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic.

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing about 40% of buildings in Uptown, while the rest are mainly small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses. Most of the housing growth in this part of the city occurred prior to the 1960s. This neighborhood offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Roughly 60% of the population of this neighborhood own their home while the rest are renters.

Both general and specialty grocery stores are usually accessible within a short walk from most homes for sale in this neighborhood. Uptown is quite car friendly because parking isn't generally too difficult. On the other hand, the public transit service in Uptown is sometimes poor. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighborhood, and most properties are very close to a bus stop.
