Uptown, Wichita

The neighborhood of Uptown is part of the city of Wichita, Kansas.

Due to the presence of few pedestrians, Uptown remains relatively quiet; however.

In Uptown, most of the dwellings are single detached homes, while the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings. Most housing in this neighborhood was constructed pre-1960, during its latest housing boom. This area has a good selection of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The population residing in this neighborhood is evenly split between owners and renters.

Locals will find that wherever their property is located in this part of the city, both primary and secondary schools are nearby. When it comes to food, it is especially easy to reach the nearest supermarket on foot from any home in this neighborhood. In addition, there is commonly a restaurant or cafe just around the corner.

It is easy for pedestrians to move around in this area; many common errands can be run without needing to use a car. Driving is an excellent mode of transportation in Uptown. Coming across a parking spot is generally easy, and it is a short car ride to the nearest highway from any home in Uptown. On the other hand, this neighborhood is not an especially convenient part of Wichita for getting around by public transit. Thankfully, residents have access to a few bus lines, and bus stops are typically nearby.
