The character of Washington Square is exemplified by its relaxed environment. Although the neighborhood does not contain any public green spaces, parks are especially well-situated in nearby neighborhoods, making them easy to access. Most areas in this part of Santa Ana are reasonably quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamor.

In Washington Square, many of the dwellings are single detached homes, whereas the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings. This area has a good choice of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The split between renters and home owners is about even. A majority of the housing growth in this area occurred pre-1960.

Residents will appreciate the proximity to both primary and secondary schools, which are within walking distance from all houses for sale in Washington Square. Locals benefit from public and private schools at both the elementary and high school level. With respect to food, it is typically practical for home buyers in Washington Square to shop for general and specialty groceries by walking. Moreover, a restaurant is generally just around the corner. House buyers can find a good number of clothing stores within walking distance.

It is easy for pedestrians to navigate this part of the city; many common errands can be run on foot, and numerous businesses are close by. This area is not an especially convenient part of Santa Ana for traveling by public transit. Nevertheless, the neighborhood is linked by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far from most homes. On the other hand, a car is a fairly good transportation option in this area. Nearby highways are reasonably easy to access from any home in this neighborhood.
