This area is quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamor - although there are still several noisier areas, especially near Interstate 70. Lastly, it is very easy to reach public green spaces in the neighborhood, since there are a few of them close by for residents to check out, such as Leakin Park and Gwynns Falls Park.
In West Hills, around 60% of buildings are townhouses, and the rest of the properties are mainly small apartment buildings and single detached homes. Most housing in this part of the city was constructed prior to the 1960s, during its biggest housing boom. Most homes for sale are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Interstate 70, and it is easy to access a parking spot. On the other hand, the public transit system in West Hills is not very practical. Nevertheless, home owners are served by a few bus lines, and it is very convenient to reach a nearby bus stop from most homes. This area is reasonably bike-friendly because the bicycling infrastructure is quite comprehensive. On the other hand, walking in West Hills is not very popular, although many common errands can be run on foot.
