Woodlawn, Portland

The neighborhood of Woodlawn can be found in the city of Portland, Oregon.

Woodlawn is a fairly good neighborhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a calm environment. There are a few public green spaces nearby for residents to unwind in, such as Holman Park, and they are especially well-located, making them easy to get to. The noise levels in this part of Portland are also low, as the streets are quite peaceful - although that is not the case around the railway line.

A majority of the housing growth in Woodlawn happened pre-1960. The housing stock of this neighborhood is composed primarily of single detached homes, making it easy to find detached homes in this part of the city, and the rest of the dwellings are mainly small apartment buildings. Roughly 60% of the population of this neighborhood own their home and 40% are renters. This area has a good variety of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.

It is very easy to get to the closest grocery store by walking in Woodlawn in this part of the city. In addition, Woodlawn is a fairly good place in which to go out to eat, and a limited selection of cafes is available as well. When it comes to education, both primary and secondary schools are straightforward to walk to from most homes for sale in this area.

Active people will value the pedestrian-friendly nature of Woodlawn; many daily errands can be run without having to resort to a vehicle. The public transit system in this part of the city is sometimes poor. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighborhood, and the nearest bus stop is generally just around the corner. However, Woodlawn is quite car friendly. It is easy to park, and the majority of homes for sale are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway.
